Annuals

Flowers that are considered annuals are plants that only last for one growing season. They perform their entire life cycle from seed to flower

to seed within a single growing season. All roots, stems and leaves of the plant die annually. Only the dormant seed bridges the gap between one generation and the next.

There are also plants considered to be hardy annuals. This just means that they are able to withstand a little frost without being killed off and will continue to bloom and set seed into the next year.

Certain annuals can only do well in certain seasons Pansies do well with cooler weather in early spring and will fade as the summer heats up. They also thrive in late fall when temperatures begin to fall again. Zinnias won’t even get moving until the nights stay warm.

Annual flowers give you the opportunity to have a totally different garden every year.
